Talented Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham has been presented with an award of recognition from the wife of the President, Dr Mrs Aisha Buhari for her immense contribution to the development of Nigerian Entertainment Industry.

Toyin Abraham’s manager has slammed Adeniyi Johnson over his divorce papers claims. He had revealed that Toyin refused to sign the divorce papers and let him go.

Toyin’s publicist, Samuel Olatunji, responded to Adeniyi’s allegation.

In an open letter posted on his Instagram page, Olatunji wrote;

“Dear Niyi Johnson, I’m forced to respond to you here because you mentioned my name,so I will be returning the favour. In all my years of dealing with the entertainment industry, I carefully avoid the drama that goes with the terrain. And this includes years of dealing with big brands.

Some of these brands have warned me to avoid some people from the Yoruba industry because of the attendant, unnecessary drama and here you are proving them right and giving the noble Yoruba industry bad name. You have my number, you have the number of the lawyer, and I believe you have Toyin’s number as well. This unnecessary call for attention and social media shenanigans are unnecessary.

You see why people don’t dignify your ilk with phone calls, sms or courtesy, it always end on social media. People are doing great things in real life not Instagram drama.

Two, a simple call to your lawyer would tell you that what Lawyer Bosun called you for is the beginning of trial (court proceedings) not to come and sign divorce papers. Divorce doesn’t work like that. Three, if you depserately want a divorce, you should have filed one not Toyin; perhaps the over 1m naira cost deterred you.

Toyin, chose to bear the cost, pay her lawyer the fee and has taken the case to a considerable point. She has shown more commitment to the divorce proceedings than you. In more than three years of separation you just filed a ‘cross petition’ last month while she has been at it in the court for over a year.

She has ‘allowed you go’ a long time and we all can see what that has done to her life and career. Please come down from your Instagram high horse, real court issues happen outside of social media. She changed lawyer and he has moved faster than we anticipated. It was out of courtesy that I called you to ask for your address. I told you I’d call for if there is any new development.

And a piece of advise from me, you need to stop using your past relationship to generate talkability, you have talents and new relationship, they should be enough. That is what you should focus on; stop focusing on what you don’t have, what you have should be enough. Selah! Today”

I take codeine, other hard drugs. I couldn’t boast of N1m in 2016  says newly rebranded Nolywood actress Toyin Abraham

She has opened up on her past when she abused hard drugs like marijuana and codeine, and was involved in other vices. She made the disclosure at the 2017 edition of Success Story Africa, held in Lagos, on Sunday. .

“You need to stop bad habits. I was involved in a lot of vices and it became worse last year,” PremiumTimes quoted her as saying at the event. “I did drugs and I am not ashamed to say it because it’s now a thing of the past. .

They say codeine makes you high; I took a lot. I smoked a lot and I didn’t even know I looked horrible, because I was so skinny. If you came to my house last year, you would meet a lot of people and you wont want to leave because we smoked, gossiped about people and what have you.” .

.

According to PremiumTimes, she also talked about the mistakes she has made in the entertainment industry and how she has not let the negativity shape her. “I made a lot of mistakes when I began acting and that was because I did not have plans. I just wanted to be known. .

.

But, I now know that being popular isn’t the same thing as being successful. When I got into the industry and the fame became too much, I became irresponsible. I could not boast of N1 million in 2016. I was making money and I wanted to feel among. .

When one of our colleagues bought a car, it was trouble because we all strove to buy the same car or a bigger one. I had to change my circle for good and this change started in March 2017.”

Nollywood actress/producer Toyin Abraham on a new episode of Rubbin’ Minds revealed to Ebuka that she regrets ever going into a relationship with her ex, Seun Egbegbe.

The actress who was close to tears explained that it was a very emotional period for her and as such, she always empathizes with women going through similar emotional stress.

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has said that one has to be willing to be mocked, hated and misunderstood, if he or she wants to be great in life.

She made this known in a recent  interview with PUNCH’s Saturday Beats. She also disclosed the kind of man she wants to be with.

“I want a man who is tall, hardworking, and loves his job. I would want to be with a man who does not chase women and would not constantly request for money from me. If he needs my help, I can do it. I don’t want to be with a short man. My man has to be taller than I am,” she said.

On her weightloss and whether she did that to find a partner:

“Why would I change my look because of any man when I have my job, my career, and people who look up to me? I love my new look because it has helped my career a lot. Now I get more roles even in the English speaking industry and most of the movies are in the cinemas. Also my clothes fit me well. My stylist does not have to go extra mile to make my clothes,” she said.

On why she changed her name from Toyin Aimakhu to Toyin Abraham:

Abraham is my father’s name and it was a family decision. I cannot be talking about my family online, it is my life. My brother who is also a famous dancer bears the name, David Abraham. That shows that it is my father’s name. At first I thought about my brand before changing the name but eventually, I had to change it. I did not want to change it but my business manager asked me to do so. I know the decision confused some of my fans but with time, they would get used to it. I am Toyin Abraham now and I am building a new brand.

On several controversies she’s been faced with in the course of her career:

I feel it is normal and comes with the territory of being an actress. Based on the fact that I am an actress, people will always tag me with something. It hurts when they say I was in a relationship with someone I never dated or when they write about things that I did not do and just put it out there. Sometimes I read such write-ups and begin to wonder if I ever did those things but what will I do?

To be great in life, you have to be willing to be mocked, hated and misunderstood. I don’t see criticism as anything and I am not bothered whenever I am being criticised by the public. I know that some people would love me and others would hate me, so I do not let that disturb me. Trust me, the criticism only makes me a better person, so when people say negative things about me, it makes me understand that I cannot be right every time. I thank God that I am now getting some things right.
