Comedian, Bovi, took to his Instagram page to post this inspiring post. See post below;

”You love music but you can’t sing to save your life. Why don’t you own a record label? You woulda loved to be a footballer but you broke your leg. Why don’t you coach? Or own a club. You don’t have money to go to school. Why don’t you find the books and read? You may not have the certificate, but you’ll have the knowledge. In the book, Rich Dad, Poor dad; the author explained to the rich dad that his dream was to graduate with high grades so he could get a good job and CLIMB UP THE LADDER over the years and eventually head the company. The rich dad laughed and told the author to ask his poor dad that instead of climbing up the ladder, why not own the ladder that people are climbing? Sometimes in life, you have to omit the logic. Yeah it’s easier said but guess what! It’s done! Don’t let your need to make sense block you from being bold. If you don’t like where you are, omit the logic.”

Dear WORriors, start omitting the logics today!

During an interview with Abisola Alawode of Naij.com, the reigning Miss Nigeria, Chioma Obiadi, has this to say about the term ‘slay queen’;

”I do not know what the word slay queen means and one cannot support what you do not understand. The words slay queen is not in the dictionary. A lot of people may use the term without understanding what it means. I wouldn’t blush if someone addresses me as a slay queen that is not what I want to hear. Calling me that objectifies me so, I do not want to be addressed as such.”

On beauty queens being referred to as prostitutes?

”It makes me sad. But I think that is a stereotype beauty queens have had to deal with because most beauty pageants focus more on the beauty part. But with Miss Nigeria, it’s different. The beauty part is just 20% while the rest is about how intelligent you are.”

On domestic violence?

”Most people do not realize that men also undergo domestic violence. That said, my message to those being abused is that you should not stay until you are killed. Most times, it could be a financial issue that is causing the problem that’s why I think women need to be financially independent. I for one would not allow myself to be abused. I love myself too much to undergo such.”

Why Miss Nigeria doesn’t have a swimsuit category?

”Miss Nigeria doesn’t have a swimsuit category not because we want to paint other pageants bad, it’s because we need a queen to represent all parts of Nigeria. We have Muslims, Christians and other religions in this country so we need a queen that will appeal to all these groups. Life after Miss Nigeria Education is important to me and as such, I will be doing my masters immediately after my reign is over. I also want to be done with my PhD by the time I am 28.”

American actress, Gabrielle Union, took to her Instagram account on Fathers Day to share a younger photo of her dad and an emotional story about how her father was once harrassed by cops while he was going to work.

Read her post below;
“My Dad is about 19 in this picture & fully believed in the American dream. That if you just work hard & do the right thing, serve your country, marry a nice girl, you will be considered special, different. So he joined the Army, got out & married a nice girl and went to work and started a family. Both my parents went to college at night & cleaned the daycare late at night in exchange for free childcare. They moved to a “good neighborhood” & slowly earned college degrees & got promoted. All the while raising their 3 girls as well as other kids who needed homes and guidance. He also coached our sports teams, mentored kids, officiated games… and none of it mattered.
On his way to work one morning driving out of our perfectly planned suburban community in his Mercedes and rocking a tailored 3 piece suit, my father was stopped, pulled out of his car in front of the entire neighborhood and put spread eagle on the ground with guns pointed at him. They said a convict had just escaped from a nearby jail. The guy they were looking for was 20. My dad was balding in his 40s. When I see this picture of my father I cannot help but think of #PhilandoCastile a good man who did all the right things and was a father figure to so many…and none of it mattered. On this day and every day know that we are not threatening by birth. Do not demonize our breath. We are not to be feared. Our lives, our children, our love… IT MATTERS! We matter. #BlackLivesMatter”

She and her younger brother were raised outside of Lansing and were the only two African-American students in their school. They faced many obstacles throughout their school years. She then became the first African American woman neurosurgery resident in the US at the University of Minnesota. Despite what people said about her, Canady viewed her accomplishments as something both women and African Americans could look up to.

She became Chief of Neurosurgery at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in 1987 and held the position until her retirement in 2001. During her time as Chief, she specialized in congenital spinal abnormalities, hydrocephalus, trauma and brain tumors.
