Waje Covers New Issue of Modern Woman Magazine

For Modern Woman Magazine‘s second edition, the spotlight is shone on the sustained success of a dedicated humanitarian, an amazing Pop; R&B singer and songwriter, and she’s none other than – Waje.

The superstar, whose vocal range is said to cover three octaves, cemented her position as one of Nigeria’s biggest acts to watch when she released her single, “For A Min“.

With a music career of over a decade, Waje, whose real name is Aituaje Iruobe, is in a league of her own. Her debut album titled “W.A.J.E” was released on the May 1, 2013, via a historic live Google+ hangout with fans joining in from around the world, which trended globally at no 4 on Twitter.

She proceeded to release 2 albums afterwards, the latest being the “Red Velvet” album.

In case you didn’t know she’s the first child and daughter of the family, well, now you know. And as a teenager, she sang in choirs, gained a scholarship at the Word Of Faith group of schools because of her gift. She studied Social Work at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Played in concerts, camp meetings and fellowships. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, Waje honed her music skills and was soon a popular performer in the state.

In 2012, the singer-songwriter started a platform WAJE SAFE HOUSE with the goal of collaborating with NGOs every quarter to amplify their causes which included being THE VOICE for women and children by tackling issues around Education, Health, Good governance, Gender-based violence and many more.

WAJE has collaborated with the following NGO’s:

One.Org: “Poverty is sexist” and “make Naija stronger”, and she continues to be an ambassador for One campaign.
She performed at the foundation launch at the African Leadership Academy in S.Africa.
She was invited with other African leaders to attend the Mandela lecture given by President Barack Obama.
She was featured on CNN African voice for The African Women project in 2014.
In 2018, she was selected as one of Lancôme’s heroes in Nigeria.
She featured on Forbes Woman Africa in 2018
UN: She performed at the United Nations youth climate summit 2019, UN women day of global activism, giving a lecture on the importance of the most marginalized population affected by conflict and natural disaster.
Purple: The 50/50 campaign.  EIE: As an RSVP ambassador championing good governance in Nigeria at the 2019 elections .
WAJE has received over 20 awards and nominations worldwide including a Channel O Music Award, 4 World Music Award nominations just to mention a few.

“Some Men Are Selfish”Singer Waje Reacts As Nigerian Men Say They’ll Never Allow Their Mothers Remarry If their Fathers Die

There’s been an argument on Twitter about widows remarrying, after a number of men said they will raise hell if their mothers try to remarry and Waje has reacted to the argument.

A number of men stated that their fathers are allowed to remarry but they will not allow their mothers remarry if their fathers die.

It led to a debate and one man disagreed. He stated that he’s in search of a companion for his mother (read here).

Responding to a particular tweet from a man who vehemently opposed his mother remarrying, singer Waje stated that some men are selfish. She said that a man is adviced to remarry if his wife dies. However, if a husband dies, the wife will not be allowed to find happiness. She added that adulthood has taught her to appreciate her mother better. She further stated that children should want their parents’ happiness

WAJE ANNOUNCES FIRST EVER NIGERIAN ‘BEDROOM MUSICAL’ CONCERT

Award winning Nigerian born music star, Waje has just announced her first ever owned concert; Red Velvet on September 1st, 2019 at the Shell Hall Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

According to the organizers, the concert will showcase the songbird’s latest critically acclaimed R&B album ‘Red Velvet’. With the concert, Waje delves into familiar territory to explore the passionate themes from the album with a distinctively new burlesque story-telling style. Attendees can expect a full-blown bedroom musical from sensual, soulful love lorn ballads to fierce energetic affirmations.

Johnny Drille lead the pack of stars billed for the concert including Nonso Bassey, Chike and Good girl LA amongst others. The event would be hosted by Chigul.

She announced on Instagram “I have wanted to do this for a long time, to sing my truth to the world, my way. My goal has been to have a very intimate, passionate experience with you! The stars have aligned and it’s finally time! Please join me.” She added.

“I AM STRUGGLING VOCALLY” -WAJE

One of Nigeria’s leading female songstress, Waje, has revealed that she is struggling vocally at the moment.

In a candid post she shared on her IG page this evening, Waje said she doesn’t know if her struggle is caused by mental stress or health issues.

”I’m struggling vocally,
Been struggling for a while.
Don’t know if it’s mental or medical but It doesn’t change his plans for me. ?

Recall that last month, the mom of one in another video, said she is considering quitting music for good.

“I WANT TO MARRY AN HARDWORKING MAN” – WAJE

In a recent interview with PUNCH’s Saturday Beats, Nigerian songstress Waje said that she has not ruled out love and re-marrying from her life.

She also disclosed the qualities she looks for in her ideal man.

According to her, the most important thing she wants in a man apart from him being taller than her, is one who is God-fearing.

She said:

I have not ruled out the concept of love and re-marrying from my life, I can never do that. I look for certain criteria in a man and the first is that he has to be God-fearing. I don’t need a passive God-fearing man; he has to really invest in his faith.

The only way I can love someone completely and unconditionally is if I experience a bigger kind of love and that is God’s love. I also like a man who is not afraid to be expressive and who is not afraid to support someone who is hard working and in the public domain. He should not put restrictions on me and must know that this is my job and would allow me shine.

Also I would want a hardworking person. He does not have to have about $10m in his bank account but when you see someone who is hard working, it means that no matter how many times we fall, we would rise again. He has to be easy on the eyes as well. I don’t care much about his height but he should be a bit tall because I am a tall person.

Nigerian singer, Aituaje Iruobe a.k.a Waje, in a bid to create awareness about societal issues and how to they can be overcomed, shared an inspiring story tagged #MyFreedomStory on Instagram.

According to the ”Omini knowest” crooner, she could have been a commercial worker battling with several sexually transmitted diseases(STDs) but instead she used the opportunity given to her to become an award winning song writer and musician.
