Most known for her Stella McCartney editorial, she recently photographed Rihanna for the cover of Allure. For British Vogue, she shot global pop star, Dua Lipa for the magazine’s first issue of 2019.

Announcing this on Instagram, Ijewere said:

“If you had told me last year I would have photographed for British Vogue, I would have said not possible.

If you had told me a cover, I would have thought perhaps in a parallel universe. I am so grateful for this opportunity I have been given to shoot for a publication where I once felt perhaps I didn’t.”

Rihanna has reportedly turned down an offer to headline February 2019’s Superbowl halftime show because of her support for Colin Kaepernick.

According to Us Weekly, the popstar told the NFL a big “no” because she didn’t agree with their stance. A source who spoke to them said:

The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta.

They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.

The halftime show will instead be headlined by Maroon 5, who accepted the offer after she declined.

Her new national role will see her promoting education, tourism and investment of Barbados.

“Rihanna has a deep love for this country and this is reflected in her philanthropy, especially in the areas of health and education. She also shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to this country and continues to treasure the island as her home,” the prime minister said in a statement .

“She has also demonstrated, beyond her success as a pop icon, significant creative acumen and shrewdness in business. It is therefore fitting that we engage and empower her to play a more definitive role as we work to transform Barbados.”

The singer was born in Saint Michael in Barbados, and grew up in the capital, Bridgetown.

Last year a street she used to live on was renamed Rihanna Drive in her honour.

In a statement accepting her new role, Rihanna said she “couldn’t be more proud to take on such a prestigious title” in her home country.

“Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility. I look forward to working with Prime Minister Mottley and her team to re-imagine Barbados.”

The singer is now referred to as Ambassador Fenty by the Barbados government.

Rihanna received the 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year Award at Harvard University’s Sanders Theatre yesterday, on February 28, 2017, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Rihanna was honoured because of her work in her native island of Barbados and the charities she has founded over the years, the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations.

During the ceremony, Rihanna thanked the university for the honor and delivered an inspiring speech.
