Nollywood actress and film maker, Stephanie Okereke Linus has been invited to screen her movie, ‘Dry’ which was produced in 2014, at 2018 Ray Charles Week which will hold at the Dillard University, New Orleans, Lousiana, U.S.A on the 25th and 26th of October, 2018.
Stephanie Linus will also give a lecture at the university on Thursday, 25th of October, 2018 while the movie screening will be on Friday, 26th of October, 2018.
Stephanie will be speaking on “The Emergence of African Storytellers and Their New Narrative” at Dillard University. Stephanie will also be joining a list of speakers from previous editions, which includes Denzel Washington and Tunde Wey.
The movie ‘Dry’ was mostly shot in the Northern part of Nigeria and produced in 2014.

Nse Ikpe Etim will be hosting the Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, for the second time in a row.
After hosting the 2017 edition in Lagos, Nigeria, the award winning actress and two-time nominee of the awards ceremony will be hosting 2018 AMAA in Kigali, Rwanda.
Nse will be joined by Arthur Nkusi as the co-host for the award ceremony scheduled to hold at the Intare Conference Arena in Kigali on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
The Nigerian star actress signed the deal with UTA for representation in film, TV, and production recently, Deadline reports.
The agency also represents Gwyneth Paltrow, Channing Tatum, Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Kim Soo Hyun and Liv Tyler.
The move, it is been rumoured, will see Genevieve getting more movie roles in Hollywood.
The deal, it is also been suspected, will see the actress collaborating with top Hollywood filmmakers to produce movies from African and Nigerian stories.

Nollywood actress and film maker Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has been unveiled as one of the Most Influential 100 People of African Descent.
She was honored in New York City, following the opening of the 73rd UN General Assembly.
Omotola made the announcement on her social media saying,
“Honoured to be one of the Most Influential 100 People of African Descent at the United Nations by @mipad100“.
Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) award distinguishes excellence in people of African descent from over 50 countries worldwide in support of the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent (IDPAD) 2015 – 2024.

Veteran actress and director, Genevieve Nnaji, spoke on CNN as a guest of Richard Quest on his Tuesday night show. She explained how difficult it was for her to get funding for the production of her directorial debut movie ‘Lion Heart’ which was acquired by Netflix.
She said:
“For money, we had to self-fund unfortunately, she says, we don’t have adequate funding for movies that we actually intend to go global, there isn’t that provision yet.”
She also mentioned the reason the movie made history as the first one to be acquired by Netflix.
In her words,
“I think the authenticity of the story, which is what I loved about it. It provided an environment which showcases things that makes me proud of our culture, talents, values and the story speaks for itself plus, we focused on the quality this time.”
Genevieve also shared her thought about Nollywood going global. She said,
“What I discovered was that everyone was able to relate to the story at the cinema. I”ve realized that language was the only barrier that we have. We can all identify with culture, pain and love. Our stories are very similar and I think its important that we stay true to ourselves. It was amazing. We had a very diverse crowd and everybody was able to relate to it. It was remarkable, the kind of accolades I got for the film.”
