For six long months, she underwent chemotherapy sessions every three weeks, enduring three-day hospital stays. Despite the physical and emotional toll, Aya refused to let the disease consume her. She found solace in her schoolwork and other activities, recognizing the power of distraction and maintaining a sense of normalcy amidst adversity.

Overcoming Challenges with Academic Tenacity

Throughout her treatment, Aya’s unwavering commitment to her studies never wavered. Her mother ensured that she had access to a laptop in the hospital, allowing her to stay connected with her educational pursuits. Even while medical professionals monitored her progress, Aya diligently maintained her International Baccalaureate schedule, pouring herself into her studies despite the physical limitations and distractions.

20 Black Female Entrepreneurs Named Semifinalists For Canada’s Total Mom Pitch

Canada’s Total Mom Pitch announced the Top 100 semifinalists three weeks ago. Similarly, the esteemed organization also picked the top 5 finalists who would compete for the $50,000 pitch grant.

The entrepreneurship program sponsored by TD Bank will culminate with the top five finalists getting invited to pitch their businesses live at the Canadian Women Entrepreneur Industry Gala (CWEgala) on May 30, 2023.

“We are at the heart of the small business communities across Canada, serving busy parents and women-led businesses, making growing their business just a bit easier so they can truly focus on what fuels their fire and the families they are growing,” Anna Sinclair, CEO and founder of Total Mom Inc., said in a statement. “Our goal is to create a powerful, educated, and strategic community to prepare mom entrepreneurs for the future.”

The companies will have access judges and executives from Bell, huumans Inc., Vista, Henry Brooks LLP, Trainual, North Road Digital, UPS, and the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH).
