“MY BRITISH FRIENDS WARNED ME NOT TO MARRY PRINCE HARRY” – MEGHAN MARKLE

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has described the past year as a member of the royal family as ‘hard’ and said her British friends warned her not to marry Harry.

The US-born former actress said she had tried to cope with the pressures of her new life, since marrying the Duke of Sussex in May 2018, by putting on a ‘stiff upper lip’ but she was not prepared for the intensity of tabloid interest.

She told ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey: “It’s hard. I don’t think anybody could understand that, but in all fairness, I had no idea, which probably sounds difficult to understand … but when I first met my now-husband my friends were really happy because I was so happy, but my British friends said to me, ‘I’m sure he’s great but you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life”.

Meghan, 38, said that, as an American, she ‘very naively’ thought this did not make any sense, adding: “I’m not in tabloids. I didn’t get it, so it’s been complicated”.

MEGHAN MARKLE SET TO LAUNCH OWN LINE OF WOMEN’S CLOTHING IN AID OF CHARITY

Meghan Markle is set to launch her own women’s clothing line in aid of charity.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed this in the new issue of British Vogue which she guest edited.

The new mum has persuaded major British retailers Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Jigsaw – along with her designer friend, Mischa Nonoo – to create a “capsule” collection of women’s workwear which will benefit Smart Works, a charity helping women back into the workplace. Each time a piece is bought from one of the retailers, a “like for like” item will be donated to the charity.

Smart Works, one of Meghan’s first patronages, helps women from disadvantaged backgrounds get interview-ready by providing them with a new outfit and coaching from a team of volunteer mentors, according to Daily Mail.

Meghan writes in the September issue of British Vogue: “When you walk into a Smart Works space you’re met with racks of clothing and an array of bags and shoes. Sometimes, however, it can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colours, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.

“To help with this, I asked Marks & Spencer, John Lewis & Partners, Jigsaw and my friends, the designer Mischa Nonoo, if they were willing to design a capsule collection of more classic options for a workwear wardrobe.

“Taking the idea further, many of the brands agreed to use the one-for-one model: for each item purchased by a customer, one is donated to the charity. Not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together.”

A royal source confirmed the idea had been Meghan’s and said the collection would be available later this year but no further details could be given at present.

While still working as an actress on the legal drama Suits in Toronto, Meghan had her own clothing line with local retailer, Reitmans, featuring vegan leather trousers.

At the panel, Meghan Markle mentioned that she’d love for her baby to be a feminist.

The Duchess said:

“I’D SEEN THIS DOCUMENTARY ON NETFLIX ABOUT FEMINISM AND ONE OF THE THINGS THEY SAID DURING PREGNANCY WAS ‘I FEEL THE EMBRYONIC KICKING OF FEMINISM’ I LOVE THAT. SO BOY OR GIRL OR WHATEVER IT IS, WE HOPE THAT THAT’S THE CASE WITH OUR LITTLE BUMP.”

This is not be the first time Meghan Markle will be involved in issues concerning women globally. She has been on this mission since 2014, and has also worked for the United Nations’ Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.

KENSINGTON PALACE ADDRESSES ALLEGED RIFT BETWEEN KATE MIDDLETON AND MEGHAN MARKLE

The Kensington Palace has dismissed rumours of an alleged argument between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.

Tabloids had claimed that Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, had gotten upset with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, over how she treated Kate’s staff.

People reports that a Kensington Palace spokesperson said of the rumour, “It never happened.”

People did confirm, though, that Kate was “left in tears” after a fitting for Princess Charlotte’s dress for Meghan and Prince Harry‘s royal wedding

The two have been seen out together after that, even going together on a solo outing to Wimbledon 2018.

MEGHAN MARKLE’S HALF SISTER APOLOGIZES TO HER ON TV

Samatha Markle, half-sister of the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has publicly apologized to Meghan Markle after insulting her publicly for months.

Samantha, who had blamed Meghan for the death of their father (who is still alive), apologized during an appearance on “Jeremy Vine On 5.”

She wishes things could be different, she said, and things wouldn’t have played out the way they did had the family been involved in the wedding.

“So I thought in the beginning when we spoke publicly, I thought we were being open-hearted and even favorable and that fell on deaf ears and the media turned it into something it’s not,” she said.

“I was hoping maybe we would have the chance to speak—that she would know I was here. But I don’t think that’s going to happen.” If she were to get the chance to speak to the Duchess of Sussex, Samantha said she would tell her half-sibling it’s “water under the bridge” and recognize their issues spiraled “out of control.”

“I think everybody was hurt at not being included or invited to the wedding,” she said. “But I felt as though it could have all been nipped in the bud had everyone been included and we all agreed to move forward with positive resolve, and the hurt feelings wouldn’t have snowballed.” Addressing her sister directly, she said, “Believe it or not, it doesn’t mean we love you any less.”

MEGHAN MARKLE LAUNCHES “TOGETHER: A COMMUNITY COOKBOOK

On Thursday, September 20, 2018, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, held a lunch on the grounds of Kensington Palace to launch a cookbook she helped create with women affected by the Grenfell fire.

Meghan Markle was accompanied by her husband Prince Harry, and her mom, Doria Ragland for the celebration.

Meghan joined the women from the Hubb Community Kitchen to prepare a meal of coconut chicken curry, aubergine masala, and chapatis from the recipes in the book.

The Hubb Community Kitchen (Hubb translates to love in Arabic) was founded in 2017 by a group of women as a place to cook for their families and neighbors affected by the Grenfell fire.

Funds gotten from the sale of the cookbook will help support the community kitchen.
