Nigerian-born, British actress, Wunmi Mosaku won at the 2017 British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award (BAFTA) for the Best Supporting Actress.
The Zaria-born actress migrated to Manchester, England and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2007.
Wunmi made her stage debut in a production of Pedro Calderón de la Barca’s The Great Theatre of the World and appeared in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Wunmi won for her role in ‘Damilola, Our Loved Boy’, a true story based on the murder of Damilola Taylor, a ten-year-old Nigerian boy living in Peckham, London and the subsequent trial.
Born in Lagos, Damilola travelled to the United Kingdom in August 2000 with his family to allow his sister, Gbemi to seek treatment for epilepsy before his death in November 2000.
