One bride broke with tradition in an absolutely charming way: Lyndsey Raby decided to eschew societal expectations of having young children as her flower girls and ask her four grandmas to take on the role instead.

The Tennessee-based bride asked her two grandmothers, her great-grandmother, and her new husband Tanner’s grandmother to be co-flower girls for her big day on September 22.

90-year-old Kathleen Brown, 70-year-old Joyce Raby, 76-year-old Wanda Grant, and 72-year-old Betty Brown all stepped up to the plate, wearing matching blue lace dresses with jackets.

They carried little white bags filled with white rose petals to scatter down the aisle at the wedding ceremony, which was held at Ocoee Crest in Benton, Tennessee.

Wedding photographer Natalie Caho captured a selection of touching images from the big day, which show all the flower girls are beaming with joy.

“When Lyndsey told me she was having her grandmothers as her flower girls, I was not expecting the level of sass that these girls brought!” Caho told Insider.

“Their energy all day was that of a little girl who is in the same position and they had so much fun all day being such a big part of Lyndsey’s day and sharing the spotlight with her.

“It truly just goes to show that age is just a number.”

“I’ve seen a lot of cute flower girls in my day … but these four gals take the cake,” Caho wrote on Instagram alongside an image of the flower girls with the bride.

Raby told HuffPost that she knew she wanted to involve her grandmother in her big day as soon as she got engaged.

“I felt so blessed to have them all here so I wanted them to be involved too,” she told the news site.

“I do believe they were more excited than my bridesmaids,” Raby said, adding that she encourages other engaged couples to give their grandparents roles in the wedding party.

“It means so much to them and it will mean so much more to you,” she said.

Victoria Beckham who has been married to David Beckham for 20 years, has revealed the secrets to their decades-long union, and it’s pretty practical.

Victoria also said it was “love at first sight” when she first met David. She was Posh Spice in the Spice Girls at the time, and he was a famous soccer player in England, and they quickly became known as Posh and Becks.

David joked to in 2007 that Victoria “stalked me” before they met but, he says, “I fancied her.” David explained that he saw a Spice Girls video in 1996 before he met Victoria and said to his friend, “‘That one there, that’s the girl I’m going to marry.'” Called it!

Things havent been seamless in their marriage, though. The couple has faced a slew of cheating rumors over the years, which theyve vehemently denied in public. Of course, it doesnt seem to have fazed their marriage.

Waist trainers are worn to reshape the waistline and shrink the stomach. Waist-shaping corsets aren’t new – in fact, tightlacing (also known as corset training) was quite common in the late Victorian era and came into existence in around 16th century.

However, the Kardashians and other celebrities popularized the trend with pictures of their tightly-cinched tiny waists and the body-shaping movement kicked off. People nowadays wear it for a quick fix. Unfortunately, a waist trainer isn’t going to magically give a naturally thinner woman a curvy body, that’s for sure. Some women also wear it during workouts. It might make you slim at the waist and lead to temporary weightloss, but it doesn’t get rid of body fat in the long run.

So what exactly is waist training and what are the implications? Here’s everything you need to know.

1. Skin irritation

One of the most common effects of waist training is skin irritation. Having something so tightly fastened to your skin for a prolonged amount of time will cause chafing that can cause serious discomfort. You may think a rash is a cheap price to pay for the ‘perfect’ hourglass figure, but you may not feel the same way if it leads to infection and your shape is the same as it always was.

Dr. Galyna, an aesthetics specialist says: “Tightness and repeated use of your waist trainer can cause cramps, discomfort and pinching if it is too tight. This restriction and tightness around the waist could interfere with the appearance and general health of your skin.”

2. Organ shifting

“With waist training, the upper organs move upwards, and the lower organs shift downwards. This can then put a similar pressure on the abdomen – which has been known to cause constipation,” says Dr. Galyna.

3. Acid reflux

“The shifting of organs can also increase the chances of heartburn as your stomach shifts up beyond your diaphragm causing acid reflux,” says Dr. Galyna.

By compressing your mid-section, the waist trainer is also pressing on your stomach up higher increasing your chance of heartburn and indigestion. Not only can it cause pain, but recurring acid reflux can cause long-term damage by eroding the walls of the esophagus.

4. Causes Dehydration

“You might see an increase in body temperature and excessive sweating whilst ‘waist training’ during exercise, which can cause dehydration,” says Dr Galyna. “To minimise any symptoms, we would advise people to stay fully hydrated.”

5. Breathing

As well as putting pressure on your stomach, your entire internal network is being pushed to fit the shape of the cincher. By restricting your diaphragm, you’re reducing the amount of oxygen you can take it. This can leave you feeling short of breath, light-headedness and even cause you to faint. To this, Dr. Galyna says that “the quality and depth of your breathing, particularly if wearing your ‘waist trainer’ while exercising, is also impacted.”

6. Bruising

Unlike traditional corsets, modern waist trainers don’t have the same strength to affect the shape of your bones. This will means you will be left with bone bruises as the trainer compresses your body. You may not think this sounds that bad but bone bruises are significantly more painful and long lasting than regular bruises. With social media users getting younger and younger, there is a far greater risk to children whose bones have not formed fully as cinchers could actually affect the development of their bone structure. Hence it is not advised to be used by people who are still growing.

7. Numbness

Not only will your blood flow be limited by the compression, your nerves may also be affected. This could cause you to experience pins and needles or numbness in your legs.

8. Affects back muscles

Prolonged waist training means your abdominal muscles aren’t as active, even if you are exercising regularly. Dr. Galyna points out that the waist trainer has a potential to weaken the abdominal muscles as one isn’t using the muscles for support when the trainer is on.

“The corset provides the support, not the muscles, and if the muscles are not used they will waste.”

9. Restricts eating

Waist trainers are designed to cinch at the waist, which can lead to an unhealthy, unsafe decrease in the amount of food you eat because you’ll feel fuller, faster.

10. Psychological addiction

Although a waist cincher will make your waist appear slimmer while you’re wearing it, every time you take it off your unhappiness with your shape will be perpetuated through comparison. Your brain associates the perfect figure with the waist trainer. This false hope can even leave you with the belief that diet and exercise is no longer necessary, as well as becoming addicted to the wearing the cincher. In the long-run, you’ll most find the whole experience rather distressing when the desired results are not met.

“There is anecdotal evidence wearing a corset can be addictive to those people with an obsessive personality,” says Lemon.

Shaketha Marion McGregor is a mom-of-three from Georgia who wanted to teach her beloved children an important life lesson about earning money, so she decided that from now on, they won’t be getting their allowance as easy as coming up to her and nagging her for it.
So, she created a hiring event where her kids had to apply for “jobs” around the house, and they will literally have to work for their allowance, just like grown-ups.

Check out what the mom posted on Facebook:

Shaketha seems to have the soul of a successful businesswoman, because the numbers on her Facebook post skyrocketed very quickly. The post received more than 213k likes, over 35k comments, and more than 130k chares.

The jobs for the children were kitchen manager, laundry supervisor and lead housekeeper.

Shaketha’s oldest son Jahkeem is 13, daughter Takeia is 10 and daughter Serinity is 6. Naturally, the everyday necessities can get a bit expensive for a large family, so the mom came up with this brilliant idea.

She even sent her son a rejection letter after he applied for a position that had already been filled.

Judging by the number of likes and shares her post received and the number of people that had a positive response to her post, we would say that the mom’s plan was brilliant.

Growing a baby a beautiful experience, but it’s also demanding on your body. New mothers may be told by books and doctors that they’ll be back to “normal” within six weeks of giving birth, but a new study has found that most women take much longer to recover.

Dr. Julie Wray, a researcher at Salford University in England, interviewed women at different stages of post-partum life. She found that the standard six-week recovery period is a “complete fantasy,” and it can take a full year to recover from childbirth.

It’s not just physical recovery that’s needed, but mental as well. Many feel the pressure to get back on their feet soon after childbirth and feel it may be necessary to head back to work as early as six weeks.

Wray found that recovery should start in the hospital. Back in the day, women spent more time in the maternity ward learning how to take care of their infant and getting breastfeeding advice. Now, some women are discharged as early as six hours after giving birth and expected to just go with it, according to Wray’s research.

“The research shows that more realistic and woman-friendly postnatal services are needed,” Wray concluded. “Women feel that it takes much longer than six weeks to recover and they should be supported beyond the current six to eight weeks after birth.”

Recovery after childbirth is different for everyone, but the general consensus is that a full year to heal the body and mind is much better than a month and a half.

If you do want to switch to non-hormonal birth control, Alison Edelman, MD, an OB/GYN and Director of the , suggests a copper IUD. Its even better at preventing pregnancy than birth control pills, she says. But, some people do have pretty serious cramping and bleeding on their periods when they have a copper IUD, so that’s definitely something to consider.

No matter your reason for quitting hormonal birth control, there are a few things you might expect to happen. Just remember, everyone reacts differently, so you probably wont feel all of the symptoms experienced by the women below. Theres a chance you wont feel any of them at all. Either way, most of them are likely to pass once your body adjusts.

You might get some pimples

When you’re on the Pill, your testosterone levels dip, which can lead to less breakouts, says Alyssa Dweck, MD, OB/GYN and co-author of V Is for Vagina . But when you stop taking it, those levels go back up again, so your acne could get worse, she explains.

When Melissa F. from Louisiana lost her insurance and had to go off the Pill, she started seeing acne all over her body, she tells Womens Health. She had been on the Pill for three years.

But theres good news here: For most people, the breakouts wont last. Our bodies dont like change, Dr. Edelman says. For however many years you were taking the Pill, your body got used to a continuous hormone. Now, it has to readjust to the way things were before, and during the first few months your body might freak out a bit. Acne can be a part of that.

If you didnt have any problems with acne before you started taking the Pill, the extra bumps on your face (and anywhere else) will probably go away after those few months. But, some people originally start taking the Pill because it can help clear up acne. If thats you, then Dr. Edelman says youll probably start having the same skin troubles as you did before you started the Pill once you go off it.

Youll be more (or less) horny

According to a study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, women taking hormonal birth control may experience a lower sex drive and more discomfort during sex, thanks to the dip in testosterone levels. As a result, some women report having a higher sex drive when they go off the pill.

Yet, some people report having a higher sex drive when they start taking birth control, Dr. Edelman says, because theyre no longer worried about getting pregnant. No matter how it affected you, you can expect your body to go back to baseline when you stop taking birth control, she says.

My sex drive kind of increased and decreased when it wanted to,” Melissa says about going off the pill. “It’s like it was all out of balance.

The lack of the Pill wont make any major changes to your natural sex driveit just might feel that way because: 1. Youve been on the Pill so long that you dont remember what your natural sex drive was like, and 2. Your sex drive isnt constant. It changes throughout our lives. So your baseline sex drive when you go off the Pill might be worlds different from what it was before you started it.

Your period will change

Not to state the obvious, but birth control pills have a big impact on your period. So quitting birth control does, too. I went off the Pill about six months ago, because my husband and I want to start a family, Kaely D. from California tells Womens Health. But I wish Id gone off years ago. I love how I feel. My periods are a little irregular and unpredictable, but thats not a deal breaker for me.

Irregular periods were a slightly bigger deal for Kathy H. from North Carolina, though. She took the Pill for nine years, but went off it when she wanted to start a family . Since the Pill regulates your hormones, your period will go back to the way it was once you stop taking it, says Mary Jane Minkin, MD, clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Yale School of Medicine. So if yours didn’t always come on time every month, you should expect to have that happen again.

And, again, itll take some time for your body to regulate, Dr. Edelman says. It can take months for your period to get back to what it was before you started the Pill. And it might never the samethough thats not the Pills fault. Many women forget that our periods change throughout our lives, she says. Just because your period was always regular before you started birth control doesnt mean itll be regular afterward. Periods sometimes naturally change, and your bodys normal period when you stop taking the Pill might be very different from what it was before you began taking it.

You might be moody

PMS is a pretty normal thing for women to feel during their periods, but for some it’s very intense. Connor D. from Virginia has a severe form of PMS called premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a condition that causes depression, irritability and tension before menstruation. For five years, she took hormonal birth control pills to manage the symptoms, but then Connor decided to stop. I was in college and didnt trust myself to remember to take it every day when my life had little to no routine, she says. I also started to experience break-through bleeding in the middle of my cycle.

Unfortunately, quitting the Pill made her PMDD symptoms way worse. My PMDD came back full force: extreme emotional changes, unexplained sadness, anger, anxiety . I only had one good week per month.

Again, experts note that any period issues you had before you started the Pill can unfortunately come back full force once you’ve quit.

You might gain or lose weight

Not everyone loses weight when they stop taking the Pill. Some gain a few pounds. Research shows that a third of women who stop taking oral contraception lose weight, a third gain weight, and a third stay exactly the same, says Dweck. If the scale goes down, it’s most likely water weight, since being on the Pill can cause water retention. But remember: Losing water weight isnt the same as losing fat, so any lost pounds likely wont last.

You might get fewer headaches

Headaches arent super common on birth control, but because the Pill regulates your natural hormones and causes a steep drop in estrogen, some people do get headaches, especially those who are prone to migraines. For some migraine sufferers, oral contraceptives can be a trigger, according to the .

Kathy felt a change in the frequency of her headaches. I did notice that I mentally and physically felt better,” she says. “I didn’t feel as sluggish, and I had a lot less headaches than I did while taking the Pill.

You might lose some hairor get it back

Heres something you probably didnt know about your hair: every follicle is on its own little growth cycle, Dr. Edelman says. But, sometimes, when your hormones changebecause youre pregnant or because youre taking or quitting the consistent hormones in birth controlyour hair all connects to one cycle. And when that happens, large clumps can all fall out at once. Its nothing to worry about for your health, Dr. Edelman says. But it can be scary.

Luckily, its pretty rare, so most people dont have to worry about losing hair when they go off the Pill.

However, other people have a different kind of hair problem. Some women start taking birth control to help with unwanted hair growth on their chins and backs. Hair in these areas is called hirsutism, Dara Matseoane-Peterssen, MD, Chief of the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York-Presbyterian/The Allen Hospital. The Pill can help slow the growth of this hair because it tampers natural testosterone levels.

If you had problems with unwanted hair before you started birth control, youll likely have unwanted hair again after stopping it.

You might not get pregnant right away

While plenty of people quit oral contraceptives without wanting to get pregnant, its no shock that most people who leave birth control behind do it because theyre trying to start a family. But if you dont quit the Pill and then immediately get pregnant, its no reason to freak out. Remember, it can take a few months for your cycle to get back on track, Dr. Edelman says. So it might take a few tries to get pregnant.

But thats not true for everyonesome people will get pregnant immediately. So make sure youre really ready to get pregnant when you go off of your pills. Theres a myth that once you stop taking the Pill, the hormones stick around in your body for awhile, Dr. Edelman says. Some people think their body needs to flush the contraceptive hormones out, and that they wont be able to get pregnant at first, but thats not true. You can get pregnant as soon as you stop taking your pills.

Sex might feel more pleasurable

For some people, taking birth control can make sex a bit uncomfortable. Some people report pain or discomfort during sex, and luckily this should go away once someone stops taking the Pill if it was truly the culprit, Dr. Noyes says.

Typically, the discomfort happens because hormonal birth control can cause vaginal dryness, Dr. Edelman says. While lube can help with that, its sometimes not enough. Connor, for one, was happy that she no longer needed to use lube during sex once she quit the Pill.

If you struggle with uncomfortable sex because of The Pill, you might want to explore other birth control options with your doc to make sex feel good again. Just remember to be prepared. Unless pregnancy is a goal, its important to talk to a doctor about other methods of birth control if you plan on going off, Dr. Noyes says.
