Funmi Iyanda’s ‘Public Eye’ Show Debuts On TV

Public Eye’, a show by Funmi Iyanda, a Nigerian media personality, is set to make its television debut on November 1.

In a statement on Friday, the producers said the show will air every Sunday at 5 pm on Television Continental (TVC).

According to the statement, the show, supported by MacArthur Foundation, aims to beam the searchlight on current happenings in the country with a view to improving the situation.

“Nigeria is bleeding. The nation is on the precipice of a revolution sparked by outrage and pain. How do we make sense of everything that is happening? Where do we go from here?,” the statement read.

“Public Eye is here to shine a light through the fog of confusion and fear and provide answers to these nagging questions.”

The show is expected to feature stakeholders from different sectors who will be analysing various issues while also suggesting solutions.

“With Public Eye, Funmi Iyanda brings together the different stakeholders affected by the many problems in Nigeria police brutality, poor education, sexual abuse, and more and those with the power to fix these problems,” it added.

“The problems are not just discussed, but contextualized in a manner that highlights why these problems persist and the solutions.”

FUNMI IYANDA’S DEBUT FILM, ‘WALKING WITH SHADOWS,’ TO PREMIERE AT 2019 AFRIFF

Walking with Shadows’, Funmi Iyanda’s debut film will premiere at AFRIFF on November 14.

‘Walking with Shadows’ first premiered at the BFI London Film Festival on October 9, 2019.

Directed by British filmmaker, Aoife O’Kelly, Walking with Shadows, stars Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Ozzy Agu, Zainab Balogun, and Funsho Adeolu. The film is produced by Iyanda’s production company, OYA Media, in collaboration with The Initiative for Equal Rights (TIERs).

‘Walking in Shadows’ is a screen adaptation of a Jude Dibia novel published in 2005.

It follows the story of Adrian Ebele Njoko, a married executive whose sexuality is exposed by a disgruntled colleague causing an impact on his family.

Speaking about the premiere at BFI London Film Festival, Iyanda said: “Through the unique way the plot unfolds, the film fully explores many pressing societal issues and promotes the importance of self-discovery and acceptance in cultural society.

“It is an honour to premiere this movie at one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. We are thrilled by the opportunity to share this with the international community and hope they are inspired by it as much as we are.”

Funmi Iyanda is a multi-media personality who is popular for her TV show, New Dawn with Funmi Iyanda that ran for a decade on the national television station, NTA.

FUNMI IYANDA’S DEBUT MOVIE ‘WALKING WITH SHADOWS’ PREMIERES AT BFI LONDON FILM FESTIVAL

Featuring a stellar cast of Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Wale Ojo, Ozzy Agu, Zainab Balogun, Funsho Adeolu, and more, the movie is an adaptation of Jude Dibia’s book of the same title, and is centred around a man whose search for validation and love caused him to create a personality at variance with his true self and more acceptable to the society.

Speaking about the premiere, Funmi Iyanda said: “Through the unique way the plot unfolds, the film fully explores many pressing societal issues and promotes the importance of self-discovery and acceptance in a cultural society.”

The BFI London Film Festival is an annual event held in the United Kingdom for two weeks in October, with cooperation from the British Film Institute.

‘Walking with Shadows’ will show again at the festival tomorrow, 10 October, 2019.
