Recently honored as the 2024 recipient of the AC Awards Fashion Designer Award in Edmonton, Veronica has solidified her place as a trailblazer in the fashion industry. Her designs, recognized for their elegance and ingenuity, inspire creativity and empowerment in communities far and wide.

A Legacy Rooted in Creativity and Determination

Veronica’s passion for creativity was ignited early by her parents, who instilled in her the values of education, resilience, and vision. Her father, a dynamic entrepreneur and devoted educator, was her greatest cheerleader, constantly championing her talents to all who cared to listen. He often shared her beautiful creations with his colleagues, securing her first customers through his workplace connections.

Her mother, a teacher and businesswoman, exemplified grace and strength, managing her shop and teaching career with seamless dedication. Together, her parents taught her that creativity paired with education holds the power to transform lives.

Veronica named her brand Cosiste Fashion in their honor—a tribute to ‘Cosy’ for her father and ‘Siste’ for her mother. Their influence has been the cornerstone of her life’s work and the inspiration for her latest endeavor: Cosiste Fashion Academy, which will launch on January 20, 2025.

Academic Excellence and Artistic Mastery

Veronica’s academic and creative journey is a testament to her insatiable thirst for knowledge. She holds dual Bachelor’s degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), as well as a Master’s in Information Technology from the University of Lagos.

Her quest for mastery in fashion led her to several renowned fashion schools and specialized training at the Lagos Jewelry School, where she refined her expertise in jewelry design and craftsmanship. These experiences enabled her to merge her technical background as an IT professional with her creative aspirations, giving birth to a distinctive style that integrates technology, fashion, and passion.

A Life Dedicated to Teaching and Empowering

Beyond her career achievements, Veronica is a mother to three amazing boys—fondly called The EDJ Crew (Emmanuel, David, and Joshua). As a devoted mother, she finds immense joy in nurturing creativity and potential, not only in her children but also in the young minds she mentors.

Her love for children extends into her community, where she teaches at her church, inspiring young learners with values of compassion, creativity, and confidence. This dedication to education has been the driving force behind her commitment to empowering others, culminating in the creation of Cosiste Fashion Academy.

An Award-Winning Visionary and Published Author

Veronica’s talents extend far beyond designing. As a thought leader in the industry, she is set to launch her highly anticipated book, Tee-Craft Blueprint, alongside the opening of her academy. This comprehensive guide to T-shirt design reflects her dedication to sharing her expertise and empowering aspiring designers with the tools and inspiration to succeed.

Her designs and contributions to the fashion world have earned her widespread recognition, including her recent AC Awards honor and her work as a designer for major events such as Africarnival. She has also made impactful contributions to her community, including the donation of bespoke African-print jackets to Hope Mission, reflecting her deep commitment to giving back.

Shaping the Future of Fashion

As the CEO and Creative Director of Cosiste Fashion, Veronica continues to break boundaries by merging creativity, technology, and education. Her academy is more than a school—it is a legacy of empowerment, inspired by her parents and driven by her passion for transforming lives through design.

Through her work, Veronica celebrates the beauty of artistry, the transformative power of education, and the joy of nurturing potential. She invites you to join her on this incredible journey as she inspires the next generation of creators, dreamers, and innovators.

However, upon settling in Canada, Damilola noticed a significant gap in knowledge and understanding about immigrants in her new community.

Bridging the Gap Through Storytelling

Motivated by a desire to bridge this gap, Damilola delved into storytelling, recognizing its power to amplify voices and foster understanding. Through insightful interviews, she set out to showcase the inspiring journeys of new immigrants in New Brunswick and beyond. Her commitment and passion for storytelling eventually led to the creation of her television show, “The Journey Amplified,” which aired on Rogers TV.

Supporting Entrepreneurial Success

In addition to her television endeavors, Damilola actively engaged in public service, where she played a pivotal role in aiding new entrepreneurs. Her day-to-day involvement in guiding entrepreneurs through the essential information needed for their business success further demonstrated her dedication to supporting the immigrant community.

Recognition and Impact

Damilola’s impactful contributions did not go unnoticed. In 2023, she was honored as one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch, a testament to her role as a beacon of support for the immigrant community and a catalyst for entrepreneurial success. Victoria Abisinuola Thompson is a beacon of hope and resilience. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from the University of Ilorin, her academic journey paved the way for a more profound calling. Victoria Abisinuola embarked on a mission to bring emotional stability to the world, with a particular focus on underserved rural communities. This journey gave birth to Victoria Restored Minds, an organization dedicated to illuminating lives through mental health support.

The Vision Behind Victoria Restored Minds

In 2012, Victoria Abisinuola founded Victoria Restored Minds with a mission close to her heart. She envisioned a world where emotional stability was not a luxury but a fundamental right, a world where individuals from even the most remote rural communities had access to free mental health services. Victoria Restored Minds was born out of her passion for helping others navigate the labyrinth of mental health challenges, a journey she herself continues to navigate.

A Legacy of Impact

Victoria Restored Minds has an impressive track record, assisting over 10,000 mental health cases. But its impact extends beyond numbers. Abisinuola Victoria and her team have spearheaded various mental health campaigns, conferences, and walks year after year. Her role as a mental health advocate is only one facet of her multifaceted identity; she is also a gifted writer, author, speaker, and a formidable voice for mental health and humanity.

A Dynamic Force for Change

Alongside her husband, Dennis Ray Thompson, Abisinuola Victoria is actively working to make the world a better place. Together, they are leading the charge to transform the mental health landscape, especially in rural areas. Their joint passion for children is palpable in their impactful initiatives. They have championed numerous campaigns and are at the forefront of creating emotional stability in communities. Above all, they firmly believe that mental health should not bear the weight of stigma and are resolute in raising awareness.

A Heart for Service

Abisinuola has actively served with several NGOs, including GoodWill Ambassadors of Nigeria, Motivated Mankind, YALI Network, Lifewire Foundation, Valerie Chapman Home, and Supernatural Gospel Crusader, among many others. Her commitment to humanity has earned her various certifications and awards, including the “Community Impact Award” organized by Jamie Pajoe and the “Understanding Girls and Women’s Right” YALI Award. She has organized numerous rural development programs, conferences, and visited several Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in recent years.

A Message of Purpose and Benevolence

Abisinuola Victoria passionately advocates for an emotionally stable society, purposeful living, and impactful existence. She reminds us that life is fleeting, urging us all to live it fully and make it count.

Overcoming Challenges in Providing Free Mental Health Services

Financial constraints pose a significant challenge when providing free mental health services and other charitable programs. However, Abisinuola Victoria is fortunate to have a team of dedicated volunteers, including trained professionals in psychology, psychotherapy, counseling, and social work. This support is invaluable in delivering these services.

Mobility can be another hurdle, especially when working in extremely rural areas with challenging road conditions. Securing transportation willing to navigate these routes can be a logistical challenge.

Impactful Stories from Over 10,000 Cases

Among the many impactful stories, one stands out—a client who had lost her mother and was battling anxiety, fears, and other mental health issues. Abisinuola Victoria received a late-night call from the distressed client, prompting her to travel a considerable distance to provide support. Her intervention, which included calming the client and ensuring she felt safe, made a significant difference.
