Lupita was hosted to a private event by the Chimamanda Adichie with the aim of introducing Lupita to friends, family and members of the Nigerian creative community.

The Hollywood star is the lead actress and also executive producer (alongside Danai Gurira) for the screen adaptation of Chimamanda’s best-selling book “Americanah“.

Part of the movie will be short in Lagos, so we will be seeing Lupita and probably others like, Zackary Momoh, Uzo Aduba and Corey Hawkins. Danai Gurira will serve as showrunner, and writer, Chinonye Chukwu will direct the first two episodes of the series.

Lupita revealed how ‘Americanah’ has been a passion project for her since she read Chimamanda’s beautiful novel in 2013. She disclosed that after reading the book, she cried a lot and discovered they both had a mutual friend in the acknowledgement page of ‘Americanah’, contacted him to send an email to Chimamanda, met up with the author at Toronto Film Festival and the rest is the result of the forthcoming screen adaptation.

She already has an Igbo tutor who’s putting her through pretty well enough for the role.

We believe it is going to be a fun ride to have her learn about Nigeria and visit often.
