Elizabeth Olufemi, a dedicated healthcare professional, disaster relief advocate, and community leader, is running for Lake Jackson City Council. With a background in healthcare administration, FEMA case management, and public safety, she has spent her career serving others. Now, she is committed to bringing proactive leadership, economic growth, and stronger community support to Lake Jackson.

A Call to Serve

“Our community is built on resilience. I’ve seen it firsthand,” Olufemi shared. “I remember helping families rebuild their lives after Hurricane Harvey. When disaster struck, I stood with my neighbors, ensuring that those who lost everything had a chance to rebuild. As a case manager with FEMA, I reviewed applications, scheduled inspections, and made sure relief reached the people who needed it most. That experience taught me something valuable: leadership is not about power, it’s about service.”

For Olufemi, running for City Council is not about politics; it’s about people. “Lake Jackson is more than just a place on the map—it’s home. A city filled with hardworking, compassionate, and determined people who deserve leadership that listens, understands, and takes action,” she stated. “I want to bring fresh perspectives, create policies that directly improve lives, and foster a city where businesses thrive, families feel secure, and opportunities are within reach for everyone.”

Key Issues and Plans

Olufemi has outlined five major areas of focus for her campaign:

  1. Healthcare & Support for Seniors and the Disabled: “My background in healthcare has given me firsthand insight into the struggles of our elderly and disabled residents,” Olufemi explained. “We need policies that ensure they are not just cared for but valued. I will work to improve resources, advocate for better accessibility, and strengthen community health initiatives.”
  2. Small Business Growth & Community Prosperity: “As a former small business owner, I understand the challenges entrepreneurs face. I want to create an environment where businesses don’t just survive—they thrive.”
  3. Community Development & Economic Growth: “We need to create an environment where local businesses can flourish. I will advocate for policies that attract new businesses while supporting existing ones, ensuring sustainable growth for our economy.”
  4. Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness: “Having worked with FEMA, I know what it takes to recover from a crisis. We need to be proactive in ensuring that when the next challenge comes, our city is ready—not just to rebuild but to emerge stronger.”
  5. Infrastructure & Quality of Life: “From safer roads to well-maintained public spaces, our city deserves the best. I will ensure funds are directed toward practical, community-centered improvements that enhance daily life.”

A Background of Resilience and Dedication

Olufemi’s journey is one of perseverance and service. Born in Washington, D.C., she was raised in an environment that valued education, integrity, and hard work. Initially studying Accounting, she found her true calling in healthcare, dedicating her career to supporting individuals with disabilities and the elderly.

Her experience extends beyond healthcare. As a correctional officer in Brazoria County, Olufemi gained a deep understanding of law enforcement and the importance of fair policies. “These experiences have shaped my leadership style—practical, compassionate, and driven by results,” she noted. “I am not a career politician. I am a community member who has worked, struggled, and grown alongside the people of this city.”

A Vision for Lake Jackson’s Future

“I see a Lake Jackson where families feel safe, where businesses flourish, and where no one is left behind,” Olufemi shared. “A city that is proactive, not reactive—a city that stands together, not divided.”

Her plan for achieving this vision includes community engagement, transparency, and action-oriented leadership. “Change happens when we work together, and I am committed to ensuring every voice is heard and valued,” she affirmed.

A Call to Action

“I am not running for power; I am running for progress. My commitment is to the people of Lake Jackson, and my goal is to bring leadership that is honest, effective, and focused on real solutions,” Olufemi declared.

“This is not just a campaign—it’s a movement toward a stronger community. I invite you to join me on this journey. Let’s build a future that reflects the heart and spirit of Lake Jackson—together.”

As Election Day approaches, Elizabeth Olufemi’s message is clear: Leadership is about service, and Lake Jackson deserves a leader who listens, acts, and stands with the people.
